About us
Our History
In the early 80s, Tony Atchison and his wife, Sylvia, embarked on a venture that would shape their legacy: the establishment of Atchison Home. Their decades of beautiful curation and attention to detail built Atchison Home into a household name with an outstanding reputation along the Gulf Coast.
About the Owners
Jack McCown grew up in the design world. His grandfather, Tommy McCown, a well-known developer/designer was known for his creative, European architecturally-inspired homes. Jack’s father, Vance McCown, is a commercial contractor, and his brother, Robert McCown, is an architect who designs beautiful, custom-built homes regionally. To say Jack comes by it naturally is an understatement.
Andy Freeman is an attorney with Adams and Reese LLP and is the business visionary behind Atchison Home today. One serendipitous day in early 2018, while shopping for furniture for his law firm, Andy stuck his head in Tony’s office and mentioned that he and his husband, Jack, would be interested in buying the business should the Atchisons ever desire to retire. The rest is proverbial history. In September, the Atchisons sold the business to Jack and Andy. “They were already doing what we wanted to do,” Andy says, adding that he and Jack have always dreamed of owning their own furnishings store but knew they could not compete with Atchison Home and adequately replicate the quality and look.
